You can solve both issues (for a 1080p TV) using the command: sudo nano /boot/config.txt then adding at the end of your file: gpu_mem=128 hdmi_drive=2 hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=16 and exit with ctrl+X, then Y, and reboot the Pi.
