Beschrijving
The Prefecture of Rethymno with its capital Rethymnon and 85 160 inhabitants, located in the central part of Crete. Its area is 1,496 sq.km. county. coastline with over
250 kilometers. It has 4 provinces of Rethymno, Agios Vasilios, Amari and Mylopotamos. The county has two extensive coastlines.
The north of the Cretan Sea starting west from the middle of the bay Almyros where continuing without invaginations, to the port of Rethymnon, then turned V.VA. forming
the capes Lianos Kavos, Hondros Kavos; and Korakia and the bay of Bali kataligontas east bay of Fodele. The south coast of the Libyan Sea presents richest dismemberment.
From west to east encountered Cape Cross, the bay Plaka, Cape bee from which formed the eastern cove of the large Gulf Messara against which Prasonisi and islets Nuts.
